Food Pyramid Papercraftby ~Skele-kitty

Artisan Crafts / Folding & Papercraft / Models

This is one of my Uni project that I completed earlier on in the year. Its a 3D interlocking and modular papercraft cube version of the food pyramid.

There are 50 food cubes in total:
- oil, butter, sugar
- milk, yoghurt, cheese
- chicken, beef, fish, (baked) beans, nuts, egg
- apple, pear, banana, orange, lime, pineapple, tamarello, watermellon, kiwi fruit, mango, passion fruit, strawberry,
- lettuce, red capsicum (bell pepper), yellow capsicum (bell pepper), red tomato, yellow tomato, potato, corn, aubergine (egg plant), courgette (zucchini), avocado, onion, carrot,
- bread, shell pasta, udon noodles, instant noodles, rice, fresh pasta, dry crackers, waffles, cornflakes, rolled oats,
- water and ice

The cubes are about 10cm³ and each side is interchangeable, so you could have half mango and half yogurt cube. I created the 3D template and then applied hi-res photographic textures (of each food item that I shot) in Photoshop. And then printed them out onto 250gsm paper, scored, cut and glued them together - it took a long time to complete.

This was my first attempt at what I now know to be packaging in it's infancy. I actually want to revisit this again, and apply the skill I've aquired over the last 12 months to them, just to make them less embarrassing. But I'll have to dig up the files ... if I can remember where I stashed them, lol!
