Koala No Marchi Redesign by Skele-kitty Koala No Marchi Redesign by Skele-kitty
I've come to the conclusion that koalas are shit at selling anything!

No one like to buy stuff with koalas plastered all over it, except for Japanese tourists, perhaps, but I suspect that's an obligation more than anything!

For this 3D Design brief, I had to redesign the packaging of an existing product that I felt was not particularly successful. I chose Koala No Marchi "pudding (creme caramel?) flavour" snacks - which are the nearest competitors to Hello Pandas - which have a much better design!

But we were told to come up with a new brand and sub-brand. I pretty much changed everything, because who likes pudding flavoured biscuits anyway? I tried them and they were gross! It was also an exercise in creating accurate die line templates. The original packaging is a hexagon column, and I think that it came out much more sellable than the original.

I got my hands on a program called Box Shot 3D which basically generates virtual packaging - it's pretty awesome! However, the only drawback with the version I have is that you can't create boxes with more than a 6 sides (a standard box).

Luckily my design works on both the hexagon box and standard box! And this image is the result of rendering a virtual package in Box Shot 3D :D it's too cool!

Hahaha, thank you, but I can't take the credit for that - all the barcodes on the Koala No Marchi packaging have neat little koalas embedded in them, doing stuff!
