Mantyke Papercraft by Skele-kitty Mantyke Papercraft by Skele-kitty
I build this happy chappy THREE times! Suffice to say that, to me, it looked less happy for the experiences. You would think that it would be an easy build - no arms, no legs, no tail - but in actual fact, it was harder than I expected.

For all intensive purposes, it's a ball, albeit a smooshed ball with antennae, but the principal is the same. There really isn't any place that you can hide a closing spot (like a tail or foot) so the first two builds were not perfect to look at.

Then the smooth curves were an issue too. I had to cut the template up in more places that I originally, so that these curves became natural for the papercraft. There was significant tension issues in the first two models.

But all's well that ends well, as they say. And I just suddenly realized that I built the Shiny Mantyke by mistake ... the two textures are so similar, I don't think it makes much of a difference, does it?

This one will be available from Paperpokés in mid January. Oh, and if you're wondering how I manipulated the physics of gravity, it's the magic of micro-filament! :giggle:

Should I excuse myself for making such a hard and difficult model? >_<

I'll make you Zigzagoon, with so many places to close, it should be easy for you :D

I was searching Shiny Mantyke to see what it looked like after reading this and had to check the spelling. I had shiny ma typed in, and the google suggestion that popped up was Shiny Manthong.

...Whut.

LOL! That's hilarious!

What's a manthong?

... I hope it's not a shiny man thong, because that would be gross and highly unusual.

Hey! I know you, I think I might have built one of your models!

I just completed Mantine, he's cool, and so easy to build (10cm).

I've been doing the models on PaperPokes recently, I have:
Steelix, Onix, Hophip, Latios, Wingull, Mantine, and PK's Lugia.

These things are a pain when they are small so I build mainly large ones.

I don't suppose anyone would like to make Ho-oh or any other legendaries?
That would be awesome!

Mantine was :iconpaperbuff:'s build, but I am glad you've built it - I hope you'll send us in some photos of your models for us to put up on our Facebook Fan Page photo gallery [link] .

I know what you mean by painful sizes - I also prefer larger models.

As for the legendaries, we will be doing them. When, I couldn't tell you, but remember there are over 400-something pokés to get through, but we'll get there.

You're welcome, I enjoyed doing them.

But they're very time consuming.
Onix, for example, took me from 10AM to 2AM the next morning to complete nonstop!
